Knight Shining

That move on my body with such tender strength and overwhelming gentleness.
Intelligent eyes now closed in peaceful slumber.
Eyes that look down into my heart and soul,
Twinkling with happy mischief at what they see…
He stirs as if sensing my regard.
He blinks sleepily then focuses on my face.
The surprised smile that curves his lips and lights his eyes warms me like the sun. Shining on my soul, igniting my heart and my body.
He’s always surprised to find me beside him.
Surprised to find himself worthy of my attention.
He doesn’t understand I feel the very same when I wake and look at him.
And smile with surprised delight,
While gazing on my Knight Shining…
